2011 Selected New Works

Noted Space is proud to introduce Martin Delabano's selected new pieces. Delabano is a Dallas based artist, art teacher and active community member. In 2010 he received the Distinguished Texas Artist award. Delabano grew up in a house full of pre-colonial African and New Guinea sculptures, which had a profound influence in his work. His father, Barney Charles Delabano, was the noted Curator of Installation at the Dallas Museum of Art for thirty-three years, as well as a gifted painter.

Besides his artistic efforts, the artist has been a middle school teacher at Saint John's Episcopal School and has taught fifth through eighth grades art since 1990. Before teaching, he was the shop foreman at the Refinery Casting Company in Dallas for eight years after receiving his Masters of Art from the University of New Mexico. He has a Bachelor in Arts degree in Sculpture from East Texas State University.
