Kirk Hopper Fine Art is pleased to announce two solo exhibitions: Martin Delabano's Change and Robert Birmelin's Beloved Chaos.

Martin Delabano is known for his assemblages of bold colors and fragmented forms, allowing his vignettes of drawings, photos and news clippings to resonate with the viewer. Seeking to be less anecdotal, Delabano marks his return to KHFA with a new body of work that embarks on a journey of pure abstracted form.

New York artist Robert Birmelin makes his Dallas debut with an extended series of street scenes. Birmelin's drawings and paintings thrust us into chaotic scenes of New York City life, depicting narratives of congested corridors and confrontations with larger-than-life rodents. It's New York at its best.

Artist bios

Martin Delabano grew up in a setting of prints, paintings, and antiquities. His father, Barney Charles Delabano, was the noted Curator of Installation at the Dallas Museum of Art for 33 years, as well as a gifted painter. Encounters with his father's vast knowledge, artist friends and art collection had a profound influence on Martin. Delabano has taught at St. John's Episcopal School for over 25 years.

A native of Newark, N.J., Robert Birmelin currently lives and works in New York City. He earned his BFA and MFA from Yale University School of Art. Birmelin has received numerous awards and grants, most notably from the National Endowment for the Arts and a Fulbright scholarship. Robert taught at Queens College at CUNY for 34 years.
